LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR

I am a professional instructor and tutor of Italian language, literature, and culture, with experience teaching and designing courses for all ages, and at all ability levels. My wife and I have recently relocated to Philadelphia from Boston, where I spent the last 12 years teaching undergraduates at Harvard College, running its Romance Languages tutoring center, leading study-abroad summer programs in Milan, Trento, and Siena, and acting as player-coach to the Club Baseball team.

I grew up between the Berkshires (western Mass) and Florence (though my father is from Philadelphia!), so I never formally studied Italian until I took a course in college. Having to learn the grammar after already speaking the language quite fluently is what makes me an effective teacher: it is both my mother (or aunt?) tongue and something I learned analytically, which helps me predict and preempt its most frustrating idiosyncrasies.

The America-Italy Society of Philadelphia promotes friendship and cultural understanding between the Republic of Italy and the United States of America
